I seem to have all sorts of friends who are huge text messaging fanatics. There's Sandra who constantly sends forwarded text quotes on love and life, there's Michelle who sends one liner messages like Good night world, I'm going to sleep. At first I had no idea what Ellie's messages were all about they're random and sometimes they don't make sense. Then she told me most of them were titles of movies just like the one she sent me earlier. It became a habit of mine to auto delete messages from Sandra and Michelle that when she sent me a message about inbound call handling asking me what I know of it, I did not get the chance to read it. The moment I saw the name on the inbox I automatically clicked on delete without ever reading it. I probably deserved the look of utter annoyance on her face when I told her I have no idea what she was talking about when she asked me about the text message.

I love in particular hiking (or "tramping" as they say in NZ) Avalanche Peak. It's a tough and steep climb, but one you can make in casual outdoors wear. I think I had a pair of RM Williams boots the last time I climbed this one. It's not just a physical challenge but a mental one too. Once you get past the tree line, you're privy to some dizzying and spectacular views. You need a steady mind to complete the hike to the top as you traverse the narrow ledges that are marked out all the way to the summit. I once had to climb up through deep snow on the last part of the climb which gave me minor frostbite - I had a tingling sensation in my finger tips for the next few months! All in all though, you can't beat hiking in New Zealand.

For future DIY plans, I would love to add a cupboard above the stairwell. I live in an open plan three bedroom terrace house. My family love books and space is at a premium. This cupboard would measure 90cm wide by 90cm deep by 135cm high. As this is above the stairs, a clearance of at least two metres is required. This cupboard will be shelved and because of the depth and the practicality in reaching to the back, I propose using plastic boxes on wheels. Much of the upper cupboard will be used for bedding and towels. The lower cupboard will be used for board games and larger toys. A pole could be attached to the wall so that shirts and jumpers can be hung up overnight to dry. Considering that heat and fuel prices always rise, I will no longer be paying to keep this area of my house warm.

I smiled and said I have three brand new pads in my room and she's welcome to one of them. When she told me the size she wants I smiled and said I'll get some for her then on my way home. The ones I kept in my room are smaller than what she requires. She looked for her wallet and I stopped her saying she could just reimburse me later when I get home. With that I put my earphones on and headed out.

A Family Cabin Turned Into A Modern Retreat posted on 12 February 2012 in Home and Garden I’ve recently inherited the family cabin tucked away in the woods, peaceful, quiet, and rustic, made of hardwoods. It’s a lovely cabin and has quite a bit of potential to it. Unfortunately as a woman who has become more accustomed to the modern world I’m not much of a fan of ‘rustic’. It was built in the 50’s and was built to last, no damage to the building or the foundation. It’s last remodel however was in the 70’s Avocado and lemon colored appliances, shag carpet, linoleum, and no modern appliances. Ideally if I had the money and the time I would love to gut the cabin. New tile and countertops to replace the worn linoleum, carpet that wasn’t the color of mustard. I would love to get rid of the flowered wallpaper that graces the walls, and show off the beautiful wooden walls that are hidden underneath. I’d like to purchase some new appliances and have the cabin wired to have a television and a phone. I’d like to build a deck around the outside so people have a nice place to sit and socialize in the fresh mountain air. To finalize the whole project I’d love to add a new coat of paint to the outside, and some window shutters to give it a welcoming look.
